Study in Germany – Land of Ideas
Berlin, 12 Nov, 2008 – Worldwide efforts to promote Germany as a place for study will now go forward under the "Germany - Land of Ideas" umbrella. Since 2001, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has developed ad motifs, posters and video spots on behalf of the German Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF) to inspire young people to study at German universities.
The international campaigns of several German players are now bundled under the "Germany - Land of Ideas" brand and should make them more visible in their common reference to Germany.
"Young talent from all over the world benefits from international cooperation just as we do. Welcome to the Land of Ideas!" declared Annette Schavan, German Education and Research minister, at the campaign’s launch in Berlin.
In the competition for young academics, Germany accounts for about ten percent of all students studying abroad in the world, making it the third-largest host country after the United States and Britain. International exchange is more important than ever for modern universities, for research and innovation. "By 2012 we want the number of foreign students at German universities to increase to 300,000,” said DAAD President Professor Stefan Hormuth. The new campaign will help make this happen.
The campaign consists mainly of ads on which students, researchers and postgraduates proclaim their positive experiences in Germany. They are professionally implemented by media agencies. As well as posters and adverts, the DAAD is preparing an internet presence for the campaign as well as video spots about studying in Germany.
